Dan and Lucy Powell present ‘Intestines of the Earth’ at Hildegard on Sunday 7th June
Sunday 7 June, 3–6pm at Hildegard, Drossener Straße 16, 13053 Berlin (Map). Free
Vermicomposting and more! Let’s spend an afternoon together honouring the geologic force of the eyeless invertebrates who, in the words of Charles Darwin, “mingle the whole intimately together”.
A full-bodied encounter with worms, remembering that at the root of our humanity, we are entwined with these lowly soil makers through the Indo-European word ghôm (humus or earth), which connects us to the other great levellers, humilty and humour.
We will experiment with worm charming, listen to worms underground, learn about vermicomposting to create nutrient-rich soil (especially important with the global fertilizer shortage and quite possible in an apartment) and explore how we might use the notion of composting to metabolize some of the shit that has led our civilisation into an impasse.
