Come and join us at our studio this weekend! 5th and 6th September 1-7pm (13-19h) Naumannpark Studios 10829 Berlin Schöneberg
To draw attention to the fact that many subsidised artists’ studios like ours are threatened with closure due to politically motivated cuts to culture, there is a Berlin-wide SOS – Save Our Studios action this weekend and we’re taking part!
We have also just installed five works at Urban Hybrid Space a co-working gallery, and sports centre on Urbanstr. 93, 10967 Berlin. We’re showing the laser works 2 new cyanotypes and a two-colour ink jet print that incorporates the last 20 years of our GPS traces together in Berlin. There is a very friendly team at the space and the works will be there for a couple of months.
Join us this Friday 29 September at 8.00pm where you can see the outcomes of our Swarm Cell City slime mould workshop at Art Laboratory Berlin. The exhibition features Heather Barnett und Saša Spacal and will run until 26 November. Opening times are Friday – Sunday 2-6pm or by appointment.
Fabric: Eva Koziol, photo: Robin Sydney Willscheidt
Thanks to Mona Kuschel, we met Eva Koziol last week of Janus and Arachne here in Berlin to find out about jacquard loom weaving, leaving with a lot more knowledge about the process and some wonderful samples of her work like this portrait above. We are planning to encode our GPS data in fabric for a forthcoming exhibition curated by Gretta Louw at the Villa Merkel in Esslingen later this year. Thanks also to our current intern from Stanford University, Robin Sydney Willscheidt for accompanying us and taking some pictures. We call the visualisation we are working on a ‘birch forest visualisation’ and you can find out more about it here.
